MIZUHIKI

Have you ever heard of Mizuhiki? Mizuhiki strings were used for wrapping presents on auspicious occasions and date all the way back to Japan’s Asuka period. This kind of string art was developed at the same time of the development of Japanese paper. Kaga Mizuhiki specifically is a rare traditional craft originating in Kanazawa. These special Mizuhiki works are characterized by their Three-dimensional form. In this event you will be able to try your hand at making these three-dimensional Mizuhiki strings and enjoy a short explanation about their history! Let’s learn and enjoy this traditional craft from Kanazawa together! :))

This event takes place in Classroom -1.92 in Blandijn on Monday 29th of April Everyone is welcome from 18u30 onwards This event will be hosted by an exchange student from Kanazawa called Yoshino. She is representing a club from Kanazawa whose purpose is spreading their culture to the world. The group is called Kanazawa musume.
